In Ayungon and the surrounding communities, many families, schools and healthcare facilities still lack reliable access to clean water. The wider project reaches around 12,700 people across 850 households, 14 schools and a public hospital.

Africa Access Water addresses food insecurity, low incomes, and limited livelihoods in rural, water-stressed communities. Smallholder farmers — especially women and youth — cannot reliably grow crops due to unpredictable water access, droughts, and low agricultural productivity. Their solution is solar-powered water systems that deliver year-round irrigation, enabling productive agriculture, income generation, and improved nutrition. Over 6,000 households benefit from irrigated farms, and over 30,000 people have safe access to clean drinking water. By linking water access to food production, their model creates sustainable pathways to zero hunger and economic resilience.
Water for Life is a Dutch foundation that helps people in low-income communities gain lasting access to safe drinking water and sanitation. Donations support practical solutions such as household water connections, public water points, water kiosks and sanitation facilities. The foundation also invests in water and sanitation at schools. Access to clean water, safe toilets and proper hygiene facilities helps children — especially girls — attend school more regularly. Projects are implemented by VEI, the Dutch water expertise organization, and local water utilities to strengthen local knowledge and capacity, so the facilities can be managed and maintained for the long term. Thanks to this cooperation, 100% of donations goes directly to the projects.
